Book Cover meme - day 1

amethyst_witch nominated me to post covers of seven books I love - one cover a day for a week. There is to be no explanations or reviews, just covers. Each time I post I will ask someone else to take up the challenge. Obviously it goes without saying that if I tag you and you don't want to it, you don't have to do it. Please do not feel obligated to join in.

I completely forgot I had to nominate some one too: so I'm nominating xina_belle.

Happy Birthday Amethyst_witch !!!

I'm sorry I'm a day late to wish you a very happy birthday, but I still want to offer you my best wishes and a beautiful Amethyst moon :-)

I also found this legend :
The name Amethyst derives from the Greek word amethystos, meaning “not intoxicated or not drunken.” and comes from an ancient legend. The wine god Bacchus, angry over an insult and determined to avenge himself decreed the first person he should meet would be devoured by his tigers. The unfortunate mortal happened to be a beautiful maiden named Amethyst on her way to worship at the shrine of Diana. As the ferocious beasts sprang, she sought the protection of the goddess and was saved by being turned into a clear, white crystal. Bacchus, regretting his cruelty, poured the juice of his grapes over the stone as an offering, giving the gem its lovely purple hue.

The world's biggest crocus ever !

Last friday I found a single crocus in the middle of my (little) lawn. Thsi morning is was in full bloom. It is most certainly an entire inch high :-D

The distance between Max and the giant crocus is almost a meter :-)
